The Sacramento Kings are an American professional basketball team based in Sacramento, California, that plays in the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). They are the oldest team in the NBA and the first and only team in the major professional North American sports leagues located in Sacramento. The team has won one NBA championship in 1951 when it was known as the Rochester Royals of New York. The Kings moved to their current home of Sacramento, California in the 1985–86 NBA season. The team has had a mixed history, with a playoff drought from 2007 to 2018, but they qualified for the postseason in 2019 and have high expectations for the current season.
